Which lens should I use for a birthday party?

Hello there and thanks for taking the time to read this.

My daughter’s first birthday will be tomorrow, i would love to capture the best possible pics. I recently got my Nikon D90 with a 18-200mm , a 50mm 1.8 and a SB400 flash. We will have the party outside and inside.

Which lens do you think i should use?…If i can work with one lens it will best.

Thanks in advance.

18-200 with the flash indoors and if you’re in shade outside you can use it fill flash. For outdoors and indoors with flash keep your ISO low – 100 will be fine.

You might want to try a few indoor shots with the 50mm f1.8 and no flash – available light only. You’ll probably need to use at least ISO 800 but getting a candlelit shot of your daughter and her cake will be priceless.
